Harry Potter Moment of the Week- Favorite Triwizard Task!

I am participating in Harry Potter moment of the week hosted by  Uncorked Thoughts .  Here is what we do:

This is a meme hosted Uncorked Thoughts.  The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! I will be picking a topic within HP for us to focus on each week and then if anyone wants to take part feel free!  There is now a full list of the topics to come here.

Q. Favorite Triwizard Tournament Task

A.  My favorite task was the one with the egg puzzle and then going in the water to save the competitors friends. I love the idea of the egg and figuring out how to open it.  This introduced us to the prefect's bathroom.  I love the description of it in the book.  With the different fountains that produce different color bubbles.  I just love it!

We get to hear the mermaids sing... and of course there is the creepy scene with Moaning Myrtle and Harry in the bathtub!  This challenge was really funny in the movie to me.  I like how they involved Neville and he says "I've killed Harry Potter!"  I love that line.

What about you??  What's your favorite task?

Well there is nothing I won't read... but I don't like biographies, romance, religious, and non-fiction.  Just can't do it.

All new Harry Potter Covers revealed!

All the Harry Potter Book covers have been revealed.  I like them.. of course I love the originals, but these are beautiful too.  Kazu Kibuishi (the illustrator) says he really enjoyed the project but thinks he had an easier job then the original illustrator Grandpre's drawings.  She had nothing to go on but the stories and he had so much more to use for inspiration.  Now the back of the covers will be revealed, so for the Sorcerer's Stone is the only one we have seen. The spines also make a neat picture when put together.   Enjoy!  Keep a look out for the back covers.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week-Favorite Creature!!

Q.What is your favorite creature from the series?

A.  Oh wow! I have to pick the ghosts (I hope those are creatures).  I always loved reading about the ghosts in the books.  Why they were ghosts.. and who were the school ghosts. the ghosts are silvery and translucent. The ghosts have rotten food on their tables that the flow through to eat.

Some ghosts include: Nearlyheadless Nick, the Bloody Baron, The Gray Lady, Professor Binns, The Fat Friar, Moaning Myrtle, and of course Peeves (but he is a poltergeist).  I was always disappointed Peeves does not end up in the films. That would've been great.  I find it interesting when Harry goes in search of Nearlyheadless Nick to find out if Sirius will come back as a ghost.  Nearlyheadless Nick knew Harry would come to find him to ask that question, and he must tell him that Sirius will not become a ghost (so sad!!).

I love the image from Pottermore of the Death Day party!  I would've love to have gone to this party.

What creatures do you love?

Harry Potter Moment of the Week- Owls! Owls! Owls!

I am participating in Harry Potter moment of the week hosted by  Uncorked Thoughts .  Here is what we do:

Q. This weeks question is a freebee so I am going to talk about the owls of the Wizarding World.

 A. I love the idea of having owls as pets. First off I love owls. They are such magnificent animals!  Then I read the Harry Potter books and they bring these birds to a whole other level.  Pets who understand what you say, fly around and get your mail, I love it!  The Ministry of Magic formerly used owls for interdepartmental memos, but switched to enchanted paper airplanes because owls made too much mess with their droppings and shed feathers.

One of my favorite owls is Ron's owl Pig!  So cute.  Of course also Hermes and Errol!  Can't forget those owls!

Would you pick an owl for your pet at Hogwarts?  Or would you pick a cat or toad?  I did pick a cat at Pottermore myself. Poor beautiful Headwig.. what an amazing owl.  I love how Harry grew up with him.  The snowy owl's lifespan in captivity is 28 years so this owl could've lived a very long time.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week... Dumbledore's Army or the Inquisitorial Squad???

I am participating in Harry Potter moment of the week hosted by  Uncorked Thoughts .  Here is what we do:

Q. Dumbledore's Army or the Inquisitorial Squad, which would you chose?

A. I love evil things. Typically I might actually pick the Inquisitorial Squad... but I have issues with Dolores Umbridge.  There is no way I could have her telling me what to do.  Now if Snape were the head of the Inquisitorial Squad that would make things different ( I mean I am in Slytherin house according to Pottermore).  So I would choose Dumbledore's Army (DA).   I do like that they sneak around, and the coins used are even used later in the story from Nevile and Luna (though it's sad that they are so lonely that they keep looking at them long after DA is through).

I wish there was at least one Slytherin in the group.  I mean .. they can't all be bad right?  In the movie it seems that Cho Chang reveals Dumbledore's army to Umbridge but in the book it's her friend Marietta who end up with boils all over her face because of it.

Who would you chose????

Harry Potter Moment of the Week- Wizards Duel!

I am participating in Harry Potter moment of the week hosted by  Uncorked Thoughts .  Here is what we do:

Q. Favorite Moment from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?

A. There were several great moments in this movie.  I think one of the defining moments of the whole series happens when the students are practicing dueling.  First off Snape and Lockheart are so funny when they face off.  Then of course we have Draco and Harry dueling.

I think this is important for the relationship between Draco and Harry.  We see them face off in front of the school which I think now seals the rivalry between them.  Harry also reveals that he knows how to speak Parsaltounge and this will change how all students/teachers view Harry.  Harry also learns he has more in common with Voldermort then he originally thought.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week- Books in the series!

Q. Favorite book from inside the books.

A. For me I love the idea of reading Rita Skeeter the Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore.  I am dying to read this book.  I want to know all about Dumbledore.  Skeeter must've been doing research for this book for a long time because it was published in just 4 weeks after Dumbledore's death!

We would learn all about the juicy relationship between Dumbledore and Grendelward.  I want to know their love story!  I want to read about what Skeeter says about Potter and Dumbledore's relationship as well. I mean this book is like 900 pages long... what all could be in this book!!!

What about you?  What is your favorite book from the series?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Review

Yeah!!  I finished my re-read of the Harry Potter books!!  This is only the second time I have read Deathly Hallows.  Here is the goodreads description:

'His hand closed automatically around the fake Horcrux, but in spite of everything, in spite of the dark and twisting path he saw stretching ahead for himself, in spite of the final meeting with Voldemort he knew must come, whether in a month, in a year, or in ten, he felt his heart lift at the thought that there was still one last golden day of peace left to enjoy with Ron and Hermione.' With these words "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" draws to a close. And here, in this seventh and final book, Harry discovers what fate truly has in store for him as he inexorably makes his way to that final meeting with Voldemort. In this thrilling climax to the phenomenally bestselling series, J.K. Rowling will reveal all to her eagerly waiting readers.

This book took me like three weeks to complete. I must admit it my least favorite Potter book. I just don't like all the camping. It is also my least favorite movies. The book picks up big time at the end but the beginning I am just like eh. I think one of my problems is that the innocence and youth is gone too. None of the book really takes place in Hogwarts. Though of course I love Snape in this book. His story is wonderful. His love for Lily is a love we all want. There is so much death and destruction in this book all the way till the end. Yeesh. I love though that we see Draco's family as a real family. Draco's mom loves him just as much as Lily loved Harry. We don't really think of it that way because they chose the dark side. This book though is really long to me and just keeps stretching out.

Sometimes in this book as I would read along I read the lines in the voices from the movie.  I liked that Kreature finally finds some loyalty to Harry.  He turns out to be a really good elf after all.  There were of course a few things I didn't remember.  Like that when they were in the vault looking for the cup that all the treasure in there was burning them!  Centaurs, house elf, spiders, all join the mix of fighting in the book.  Wish we could've seen that in the movie.

I have no idea when I will re-read this series.  Probably not for another 5 years or so.  I had fun reading it!!!  Just great books to read.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling

Continuing on my epic Harry Potter re-read.  I only think I have read this book twice before?  Which isn't very much when I swear I have read the first book like ten times.  I started re-reading these when I had to sit hours and hours with my dad at the hospital... and knew I need to get it finished.  Here is the goodreads description:

The war against Voldemort is not going well; even the Muggle governments are noticing. Ron scans the obituary pages of the Daily Prophet, looking for familiar names. Dumbledore is absent from Hogwarts for long stretches of time, and the Order of the Phoenix has already suffered losses. And yet, as with all wars, life goes on. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate—and lose a few eyebrows in the process. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Classes are never straightforward, though Harry receives some extraordinary help from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince. So it's the home front that takes center stage in the multilayered sixth installment of the story of Harry Potter. Here at Hogwarts, Harry will search for the full and complex story of the boy who became Lord Voldemort—and thereby find what may be his only vulnerability.

I like this book a lot.  I will admit sometimes though I get confused with what is happening in the book compared to what is happening in the movie.  For some reason I thought Moody had already died and then at the end of the book he was at Dumbledore's funeral and I was like .. oh yea next book.   I had totally forgotten how Dumbledore dies.  Harry gets stupefied... and has to stand there and watch everything go down.  And then Bill is bitten by a werewolf.. TOTALLY FORGOT.

I love Luna's commentary on the Quidditch match! I forgot Quidditch was even in this book. The background information in this book is great!  I mean .. FINALLY we are getting some information about Voldermort!!

I just love Ron and Lavender.  I have a firm believe that everyone should date someone other then the person they marry.  Yes it can work if you don't do that.  But I think everyone should date someone they realize is NOT the type of person they want to be with.  Otherwise you might always think.. hummm.. I wonder what it would've been like.. no you won't do that if you date lots of people.
I also just want to know what exactly happened between Hermione and Victor Krum.  I want to know this back story right now!!!

How crazy is Greyback in this book.  He is WAY scarier here then in the movie.  First we find out he goes out and bites children.. then we see what he does to Bill.  In the movie we really don't know how bad he actually is.  And it's bad.  I really don't understand why Percy is still such a villain in this book.  I just think that he really wouldn't have continued acting like that.  I just don't.  But I am not the author.  Perhaps I should write some sort of fan fiction where Percy loves his family and comes home, and doesn't ignore them at funerals and whatnot.

I love Slughorn.  He is one of my most favorite professors ever.  I just love his style.  The actor who plays him is amazing too.  I just love how he carries himself. I also think it's sad that Luna and Neville are the only DA members who still are looking at their coins just in case something comes up!!  I mean SAD!! The end of this book is just one big sad ride... I can't wait to get started on the final book.

The crystal ball says:

Sun is shinning!!!  Great day to go outside and read this book.
