Moive Review-Fast Five

I love books like I love movies... so yes I will have movie reviews as well as books. Well, last night I went to the opening night of Fast Five. It was a great and fun action movie! Plus I love the Rock so to see him get a good role was great! I never liked any of the Fast and Furious movies after the first one so I was a little leery about seeing this one. But after finding out the Rock and Diesel were going to be in the same movie how could I miss it?  I would recommend this movie to everyone who likes action and cars!

It's time for the weekly book blogger hops again! A great opportunity to meet new bloggers and say hi to old.

Crazy For Books' Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

Parajunkee's Follow My Book Blog Friday.

Follow Friday question: If you were stocking your bomb shelter, what books would you HAVE to include if you only had space for ten?
Wow! I would stock Lord of the Rings, all Harry Potter Books, Sookie Stackhouse books, (clearly I am going for series here)!

Trailer Thursday

Book, Movie, Comic, and Series Trailers are so tantalizing, just can’t get enough of them.  A meme hosted by Readaholics Anonymous !   Post any trailer of something you are excited for!

So this week I am reading A Discovery of Witches and was going to post a trailer for that book, but can't find one!  Sooooo I decided to post the book trailer for The Book Thief by Markus Zusak which is the book club pick for my Stephen King Fan Club .  I have read this book already, but the group is reading it because it was chosen as a book we would recommend to Mr. King.

For my movie trailer this week, I am posting the trailer for Fast Five.  The Rock and Vin Diesel in the same movie is my cup of tea.  I will be at the theater this Friday night checking it out!

And for my video game trailer this week I am posting Mass Effect 2 trailer.  I am currently playing this game... that is until last night.  I turned on my Xbox 360 and got the Red Ring Of Death.... but that is another blog entry!

What are you looking forward to this week?? ??

Armchair BEA

This year I will be attending my first Armchair BEA! What is Armchair BEA? An online event for those that couldn't make it to BEA but equally full of awesome. Complete with giveaways, daily topic posts, blogger interviews and a whole slew of special events with updates from the convention floor itself, it's bound to be a blast.  So if you're not going, be sure to get your sign-up on it's free!  (Thanks to Bites for this information).   Looks like there are a lot of YA books that will be featured this year, some of the titles are here.  I will post more on this when I have more details... for now off to bed!

Waiting on Wednesday (#2)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, where we have the chance to share what upcoming releases we are on the edge of our seats in anticipation for.  I can't wait for Inheritance by Christopher Paolini.  I really did enjoy the first two books.  I do own the third book but didn't bother to read it once I found out the series went from 3 books to 4 books.  I am not sure if that is a money making scheme or what?  So I decided to wait till all the books where out before I read book three.  The movie Eragon was such a STINKER.  What a craptastic movie!  Don't watch it if you haven't read the books.  This will just make you not want to read them!

Inheritance release date:  November 8, 2011 (yes it is far away but I am excited!)
Inheritance  has a great website.. you really should check it out if you like this series!

Eragon movie trailer (do not bother seeing this movie!)

Teaser Tuesday (#2)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week my teaser is from the book A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness .  I am not very far in this book at all but I have been hearing such good things about it.  In fact it is rainy and stormy out here today so I am going to spend a few hours reading it!

"These days vampires gravitated toward particle accelerators, projects to decode the genome, and molecular biology. Once they had flocked to alchemy, anatomy, and electricity. If it went bang, involved blood, or promised to unlock the secrets of the universe, there was sure to be a vampire around."

Mailbox Monday (#2)

Another Monday, Another Mailbox!! This is a feature where we all share with each other the yummy books that showed up at our doors! WARNING: In My Mailbox can lead to extreme envy and GINORMOUS wishlists!!

Mailbox Monday was originally hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page, but is now a traveling meme and for the month of April Mailbox Monday will be hosted by Passages to the Past. Head on over to add your blog to the linky link and share your newest acquisitions with other book lovers.

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren .

Ok so I have been checking out other bloggers who post for the books they've received each week and I can't believe how many books some people get!  Like 10 books!  WOW!  My libraries website crashed this week... so I really couldn't see what came in.  I stopped by there today and there were no books for me only a DVD. So I may have missed a book that came in that they already shelved! This week I received a copy of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.  I have actually already read this book but my aunt got two copies from Barnes and Nobles and gave me one!! I also received a ebook for my Nook of Paranormalcy, which is my book club's read for June.  I also received Artemus Fowl from Net Galley as an ebook!  A couple of great books!

Nook Update is HERE!

I have been waiting months for the Nook update and it is finally here!  I am so excited to use it to play Angry Birds!  I can't wait to see what apps are available to use.  This will actually be my smart phone since I don't have one!!  :)  I have what I call a dumb phone!  If you don't want to want for the automatic update go here to download manually.  And here is the list of apps available for the Nook right now.
Enjoy... I know I will!

Triumph of the Darksword

Triumph of the Darksword by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

Barnes and Nobles Description:

Joram and his wife, Gwendolyn, return from beyond the Border to reclaim their rightful place in Merilon. Rejoined by Saryon, Mosiah and Simkin, Joram must confront the evil sorcerer, Menju, and his army of Technologists in a final apocalyptic battle to fulfill the ancient prophecy of the Darksword--to either save the world.

That was not the best description in the world on but I suppose that is what they wrote since it is the third book?
This trilogy turned out to be great!  I would've never picked up these books if a friend hadn't given them to me as a gift.  These books are older, written in the late 90s so I didn't even know about them.  There were some flaws in the last book, like the best character ever gets killed off fast and for no reason.  I have been reading reviews about this book and most people don't seem to like it.  I like how it went from magical (the first two books) to sci-fi.  I found out that there is a 4th book... I am wondering if the authors saw that people didn't like the ending of this book.  I don't know how I can't read this book?  I mean... obviously when an author adds a 4th book to a trilogy how do you not read it and get to see what happens? So we will see if I pick it up or not? Hoping the library has it!

Waiting On Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, where we have the chance to share what upcoming releases we are on the edge of our seats in anticipation for.  I have been dying to read Dead Reckoning!  I have been of fan of Charlaine Harris since the beginning days when Sookie books weren't even in hardback. I still haven't replaced the first 3 paperbacks with hardbacks yet! Now years later I still wait for every May when the new book comes out!!!  Release date is May 3rd!  This is one of the books I actually go out and buy and don't pick up from the library!

You can read chapter 1 here !

My teaser this week is from a trilogy of fantasy books (not YA) that are called The Darksword Trilogy, Book 3 Triumph of the Darksword by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman.  A friend gave me this trilogy for my birthday in 2010 and I am finally getting around to reading these books and they are GREAT!

"Eventually the magi were gone.  Joram and the Prince were alone now, standing in the rubble of the blasted and ruined fortress of the Field of Glory."

This is a great teaser to me!  I can't wait to get to this part of the book!

Book Blogger Hop (#2)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted every week by Jennifer at Crazy For Books. Thanks Jennifer!

Here’s this week’s question:
Pick a character from a book you are currently reading or have just finished and tell us about him/her.

I just finished reading Vixen.  There was a character in it named Gloria who was a spoiled rich girl from the 1920s who ended up running away from home to New York to be a flapper.  She also ran away with an African American male which would've been unheard of in the 1920s.  I wish I had as much courage as Gloria!

Are you Carbon Neutral?

Hey you! Yeah, I'm talking to you! Do you have a blog? Is it carbon neutral?

No? Well, the people at Mach Grun can help! For every blog that writes about their program and sends in the link, the "My blog is carbon neutral" program plants a tree! Just one tree will neutralize your blog's carbon footprint for 50 years. It's completely free!

Per year, the average blog will produce 8 pounds of Carbon Dioxide emissions, but a tree will absorb around 11 pounds of CO2. Not only is your carbon footprint erased from the atmosphere, but your blog is completely neutralized for around 50 years after the tree is planted. Therefore, our blogs can save the world (or, at least our blogs' footprints on the environment)!

13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson

Back to my book!

I went out of town for a couple days.  Now it's back to regular life.  I am about to go and read, I have to get out of the living room!  I am self cleaning the oven for the first time since we've lived in this house so in 3 years I haven't used the self cleaning oven function and it STINKS!  I usually manually clean it.  Well finally off to reading!

BLOG

UGGHHH!  Setting up a blog is a pain.  The first template I had disappeared!  Removed from photobucket.  So now I am trying to set up a new one. Which is pretty but hard to set up.  And then my book rating system just won't line up.  I mean how hard can it be????  It's hard enough to get followers!

Cleopatra

Well... I gave this book a go.  But I just don't really care for non-fiction books.  I will say it reads fabulous but after a while I just get a little bored.  I do think that those who love biographies will really love this book!  The author really tries to tie all the different stories of Cleopatra together in one story.  This book just didn't work for me.

Follow Friday #1!

It's Follow Friday, hosted by ParajunkeePlease comment and link your blog! I'd love to check it out!
This week's question is:
Do you judge a book by its cover?
I personally do not judge a book by it's cover.  Of course I love a great book cover, but it wouldn't stop me from reading a book.  I never reading the blurb on the cover either about the book.  I want the entire book to be a surprise for me!

Dungeons and Dragons

A day of Dungeons and Dragons!  Books books and more books.  Right now we play 3.5 edition but also have the main books for 4.0 (DM guide, Players Handbook, and Monster Manual).  The illustrations are wonderful in the 4.0 books for the Monster Manual.  I would suggest even if you are still playing the 3.5 edition to go ahead and pick up the 4.0 Monster Manual (unless you are the DM of course).

All the books we use for 3.5!
