Sunday Post!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

This was a great week as far as books for me.  I just kept winning them!!  I won books from FOUR blogs.  That never happens.  So I went and bought a Powerball lotto ticket.  But as you can see I am still on free Blogger so I didn't win the lotto.  I did win books so let's look at those ... shall we?  First up I would like to thank Ryan at Wordsmithonia for Animal Wise by Virginia Morell. I am really looking forward to reading this book... it's all about how animals act that we don't even know about. Ants teaching... birds practicing songs.   Next up I would like to thank Jessica from a GREAT read for  White Cat by Holly Black, A Tale of Two Demon Slayers by Angie Fox, and Street Magic by Caitlin Kittredge.  I am really looking forward to White Cat, I have been wanting to read that forever.  I hadn't heard of the other two books but looking forward to giving them a read.  I would also like to thank Charlene at Bookish Whimsy for Legend by Marie Lu and Harbinger by Sara Wilson Etienne. Both books are signed... and my book club is reading Legend in July so it's perfect to get this book.  I won one more book but haven't received it yet so I'll add it to the Sunday Post later.  Oh and also I bought the last Sookie book Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris.  I can't wait to read all these books and THANKS to everyone who sent them to me!!!!

Showcase Sunday (lots of stuff going on!)

Wow!!  So many things are happening this week AND in the month of September! I am participating in several events so I have to mark my calendar.  OK 1st up I am going to participate in Book Blogger Appreciation Week 2012.  Not sure what to expect, but I hoped I signed up early enough for the blogger interviews that are happening on Tuesday this week.

Ban This!

Then I am going to participate in Bloggiesta for the first time too. I have seen people participate in this one and I always think it looks like a good idea!! I need to come up with some good ideas for the blog. A few things I want to change.
Ban This!

Then I LOVE LOVE Halloween, so I am found this really cool challenge!!! There are two simple goals for R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril VII 1. Have fun reading. 2. Share that fun with others. As I do each and every year, there are multiple levels of participation (Perils) that allow you to be a part of R.I.P. VII without adding the burden of another commitment to your already busy lives. There is even a one book only option for those who feel that this sort of reading is not their cup of tea (or who have many other commitments) but want to participate all the same. R.I.P. VII officially runs from September 1st through October 31st. You guys should really check this one out... click on the icon below!
Ban This!

I also have a Q&A coming up in my goodreads book club with Courtney Summers!!  So I have to make sure that runs smoothly.  It takes place September 15th!

So wow... busy.  Plus of course I plan on reading.  Is there anything you are participating in this month?

Sunday Showcase!!!

Well this week I received a book I won from Tishia at Paranormal Opinion !!!  I can't even believe I won it AND received it.  I have won two other contests in the past 6 months and never actually received the book.  So here is the Clockwork Angel I won (which I have been dying to read for sometime now):

Since it is the beginning of September I have started the new book discussions in both my book clubs on goodreads.  The YA Book Club is going to be reading Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers AND she is going to be stopping by for a Q&A on the 15th so please stop by  and welcome here and ask her any question you want.  And in my Stephen King Fans  group we are going to be reading Desperation this month!!  Both should be great discussions so if you are looking for someone to read with come on by and join in.

OK so I think that is all that happened this week!!!

Showcase Sunday #1

Hello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. So this week for me was quite exciting. I participated in my first read-a-thon!! It was great... a few days I got behind because a friend was over here like every dang day (I am so glad their college starts back up tomorrow). Otherwise I read two books and am half way through my third. This coming week I plan on finishing Map of Time (my sister loaned me) , reading Of Poseidon (library) , and reading Spine of the World (library).   The video games I will be playing this week are Mass Effect 3 (borrowed from a friend) Xbox 360, Mario Party 9 (library) Wii, Mario Sports Mix (library) Wii, and The Malgrave Incident (library) Wii.  I think some of you might be interested in The Malgrave Incidient game if you are interested in Hidden Object games.  It has so many of those games and at the same time you are trying to figure out a mystery.  Super fun!!

How was your week and how did you get on with your Bout of Books (or other read-a-thon) goals? Have you read any of these three books or played these video games? What did you guys get? As always, make sure to leave a link to your own Showcase Sunday post!   Did you happen to catch the drama with this trailer and book that features blackface? Save the Pearls has stirred up a little controversy.   What do you think about it?  Does it go too far?

Happy Sunday!!
