This week's teaser is from Paranormalcy by Kiersten White .  I am reading this book because it is my Young Adult Book Club's  book club pick for June.  If you want feel free  to stop by the group and join in the discussions on June 1st! (June 2nd is my ten year wedding anniversary!)

One thing I have found funny in this book is that when character's swear the word BLEEP shows up!  I love it!

Just finished this book for my YA Book Club read for May.  I liked it. 

Here is the description from goodreads:

I thought this book was a good distopia novel.  I really enjoy reading those types of books.  Will I read the next book in the series?  Well Matched was such a fast read that I will read the next books. If it were longer I would skip it. I liked it though. Honestly I see everyone comparing the book to the Giver which I have read but it's been so long I can't remember that book. I didn't think the story really took off until the end of the book. Finally we really got more in depth with the characters and some plot.

This book is missing something though. I don't know what exactly. I think it spent too much time on some plots and not enough time on other plots that needed more attention. I also think the 2nd book will be all about things leading to rebellion and then the 3rd book will be the rebellion. Which is too similar to the Hunger Games for me.  Another thing real similar to a lot of the YA books I read with a love triangle.  After reading this book I give it three kitties!

Crazy For Books' Book Blogger Hop
Question this week:  Q:   "What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked?  Which have you disliked?" 

I have most like the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I know that everyone is probably going to say that or Harry Potter.  But really... you must admit these were good adaptations.  We even went to the theater for 16 hours when the final film came out and watched the first two (extended) movies and then saw the premiere of Return of the King at midnight.  These tickets sold out across the country in 20 minutes.  Good thing at the time my aunt was the secretary of the CEO (AnSchultz) of Regal Cinemas and he was able to land us 4 tickets to the sold out show!!  

And the one I disliked.. well that is easy.  Eragon.  Worst adaptation.  Oh and all the Stephen King books.  They never make good movies at all! BUT for those that are interested in all things King like myself.... there is a book that has some of his stories that were made into movies in one book. Now the movies aren't so good but the stories are great.  Stephen King Goes to the Movies

I haven't been reading as many books as I usually do these past two months.  Guess I have been too busy!  :( So I read about 1 a week. I have been reading more and more on my Nook Color.  Otherwise I get books from the library.

Waiting on Wendsday (#5)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, where we have the chance to share what upcoming releases we are on the edge of our seats in anticipation for.

This week I keep reading about the new Twilight graphic novel.  So I just put the first one on hold and am excited to read it and see what it's all about.  So this Waiting on Wednesday I am waiting for both graphic novels which are Twilight the graphic novel, #1 and then the second one, which just had it's cover revealed, Twilight the graphic novel, #2 .  I love how the covers go together to form one picture!!  The second one will be released Oct 11, 2011.  I love graphic novels and am glad Twilight is getting more people to read them!

So I went to see this Friday opening night and am just not getting out my review.  Personally I really liked this movie, even though most reviews were bad.  I am not really sure why.  I thought it was funny, great action, and a great play off old characters that we have got to know over the years.  I skipped seeing it in IMAX and 3D because of all the bad reviews.  I didn't want to spend my money on something that stinks.  Though now I wish I did see it in 3D.  I am very glad that the movie writers got rid of Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly's characters.  They were starting to drag the story down.  If you liked the first two movies check this one out!

Hello!!  My name is Angie and I am a 32 year old domestic goddess.  Wife, and mommy of two beautiful kitties!  I live in Colorado and I love it here.  

I'm a bibliophile.  I love love books.  I never buy books, I always get them from the library.  But I acquired a Nook Color this year and have begun buying books to read on it.   And I love love it.  I am a active member on goodreads.  I don't have anyone in my life I can really talk books with so that is why I joined it.  And now I am just discovering blogging about books!

I only received one book from the library this week... Paranormalcy by Kiersten White .  It is for my book club's pick for June, YA Book Club .  I also borrowed a book from my friend Halo: The Fall of Reach by Eric Nylund.  Honestly I don't know what to expect from the Halo book.  But I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halo the video game.  In fact I am about to go and play it right now.  I have known about the fiction books for years but never bothered with them.  I just decided to go ahead and read the first one and since my friend has well... why not borrow it.   I am busy with my parents visiting but I hope to get to these books this week~

Crazy For Books' Book Blogger Hop
Question this week:  Q: If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?
well I love fantasy books.  And this may be someone else's answer but I would love to be in Rivendale in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I love the idea of living there and the movies did such a good job of making the place even more magical then my imagination.

Q. It's circle time. Time for us to open up and share. Can you tell us FIVE quirky habits or things about you? We all have them...  I decided to make my list about books!

1.  Well I MUST stop at the library once a week!
2.  I like to read books on my Nook Color BUT I also like to have a hard copy of the book from the library in my hands too!
3.  I never have the same bookmark... it is usually a scrap piece of paper I find.
4.  I hate when people lend me books they recommend because then I have to squeeze them into my TBR pile in front of everything so I can get the book back to them in a decent time (I would never tell this to anyone else)  :)
5. If a movie is coming out based on a book I MUST read the book before the movie.  I will skip the movie if I haven't read it.  I prefer a book to be a surprise plot rather then the movie.

I haven't been participating in the meme's this week because my laptop crashed.  So I have to go into our office to work on posts which sucks because there is no TV in here and I have to sit at a desk. You are probably thinking who cares... but I miss laying on the couch watching TV with my laptop on my lap!  So I am finally catching up on some goodreads post, facebook, and my blog!!

Finally I am done with this book.  It took me like three weeks to read it.  A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness is such a long boring book.  I tried soooo hard to like it.  I mean so many people are raving about this book but I just couldn't get into it.  It was Twilight for Adults (and I liked Twilight).  I read through all kinds reviews on this book and I keep reading the same thing Edward= Matthew.  The book is extremely long and full of unnecessary details.  I can't believe it is going to be a trilogy.  To be honest I made it all the way to page 520 out of 600 pages but just decided to stop.  I started skimming but thought I might as well just look up the ending on the internet.

I will say though I loved some of this book.  I loved the idea that the plot was creating, I loved the locations, I loved the mixture of witches, vampires, and deamons.  But that was about it.  This book needs a new editor.  I mean how much more can I read about wine?  What does it smell like, where is it from, blah blah.  Not that great.. pass on this if you don't want to read long long long details.

This week I received two books from the library... City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare and Sapphique by Catherine Fisher .  I am excited about both books and really hope to get started on them within the next two weeks.  Also this week my aunt loaned me The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly.   So I must add that book to my TBR pile!  I was able to pick up Dead Recoking by Charlaine Harris  from my aunt while in Denver after the book signing so I can finally get started on that too!  For those of you who follow my blog then you know I also review movies, so I also got to pick up season 1 of Space Ghost Coast to Coast from the library as well!  Can't wait to get started watching it.  I love that show and haven't seen it since the 90's!

Charlaine Harris book signing!

Charlaine Harris came to Denver this week for a book signing, which I totally had to attend.  I have been a fan of hers since way before True Blood the series ever existed.  It was really a lot of fun.  She is so personable and you can tell how much she loves her characters and books!  The crowd was great as well.  I even met someone in line who took a picture of me with Ms. Harris since we weren't allowed to pose with her... only a drive by picture.

Follow Friday question: What is the most emotional scene in a book I have read lately.
Hummmm.... well.  I am currently reading a Discovery of Wtiches and I would have to say the most emotional part in the book is when the main character Diana gets an important letter!  I don't want to say too much because it will spoil the book for others!

This week I have decided to list A Dance with Dragons by George RR Martin.  Or better known to readers of the series as book five in the Song of Ice and Fire series.  I must admit though, I have not read any since book three.  I own book four, and I will own book five.  But Martin take a very very long time writing these novels.  In fact, originally there was supposed to be seven novels but as I understand the publishers made him split book 4 into two.  So now there will be 8 books.   I have read interviews with Martin where he is real snooty with his fans saying he will write the books when he feels like it.  So, I personally have decided to not read the books again until all the book are out.

I do love love the Game of Thrones show on HBO and think they are doing a fantastic job with the series.  I wonder where the series will go though since the books aren't finished and won't be for YEARS!!!

Thor Review

Ok as you know I mix reviews of books, movies and video games on this blog.  This Friday night I went to Thor and LOVED it.  I thought it had wonderful action, romance, comedy, guys, and superheros.   I love all the movies that are leading up to the big Avenger movie in a few years.  If you do go to see this remember to stick around after the credits (like all Marvel movies) to wait for a special scene.   I would also recommend seeing this in 3D IMAX.  It was decent 3D (I haven't been enjoying 3D lately because they are just making every movie 3D).  Green Lantern and Captain America has a lot to live up to!
