Endlessly by Kiersten White Review

Another series down!!   I am so happy that I am finishing all these series.  I originally read the first book Paranormalcy way back in my Young Adult Book Club.   I seem to start all my series books in that group! I enjoyed the first two but this one fell flat for me.  Here is the goodreads description:

Evie's paranormal past keeps coming back to haunt her. A new director at the International Paranormal Containment Agency wants to drag her back to headquarters. The Dark Faerie Queen is torturing humans in her poisonous realm. And supernatural creatures keep insisting that Evie is the only one who can save them from a mysterious, perilous fate. The clock is ticking on the entire paranormal world. And its fate rests solely in Evie's hands. So much for normal.

I have attempted to read this book two times before this.  When it first came out, but I didn't read it fast enough so I had to return it to the library.  Then again in November when a family emergency came up so I had to return it to the library again.  This time I did it!  I did start back over from the beginning because I was a little lost.  I really wanted to read these books because of the book covers.  I just love them, they are beautiful.

The story itself was only OK for me.  I just felt the main character Evie came across as a little annoying.  The supernatural spirits needed her help and she just had a huge fit because she wanted to do what she wanted to do.  That didn't include helping all these spirits. So we travel through the book and everyone keeps trying to get her to help them.. of course by tricking her.  So every time she was discovered she was tricked she would have a fit again.   I liked Evie more in the first two books.

This book is larger then a love triangle.. it's a .. well whatever a four person love mess is.  Lend, Reth, Jack and Evie.  There were a lot of other love interests in this book, but they were just so quick.  What were they even there for?  I think the humor in this book was too much and trying too hard.  I did enjoy seeing the Dark Queen and the Good Queen but even those were short story lines.

Spoilers coming!!

So the book was a satisfying ending.. but I wonder if it was a realistic ending.  Why would two supernatural beings stay behind in our world?  I really think Lend and Evie should've went over to the other side. I don't really think it is that smart of Lend to stay in our world when he has to live forever.  What a depressing life.  Evie would get old, wrinkled.. I guess that Lend stops aging at some point?  (this is confusing and the author never lets us know why he is aging now but won't be again later).

END spoilers

Overall I was just disappointed in this final book in the series.  I will still read more of the author's work because I think she is a great descriptive writer.

The crystal ball says:

Rain is pouring...  Not sure if this was really worth my time, must get umbrella.

Supernaturally by Kierten White-Review

I read this book because I enjoyed the first book Paranormalcy which I read for my YA Book Club.  The second book is just as good!  Here is the goodreads description:

Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be . . . kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees. But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself. So much for normal.

I love the new characters in this book and the old ones as well. Some great new paranormals. There is still the great humor in the book... for example when Evie is always saying "bleep" instead of a curse word! That is fun! I like that Evie is trying to be on her own and grown-up. I had a few problems with some of the things that happens with the fair world... for example she enters it but for like 5 minutes and then leaves and nothing but a ship bombing happens. I do like that that Evie is moving on to college.  I thought it was great though and a fast beach type read.

Top 10 Books I’ve read in 2011

My top 10 books in 2011 are hard to pick (click the picture above to find out how to participate). Ok so here goes:

Title: 11/22/63
Author: Stephen King
Published: November 8th 2011 by Scribner
My number one book is 11/22/63!  This book is AMAZING!  One of his best in a long time.  I will take you on a time traveling journey!

Title:Divergent
Author: Veronica Roth
Published: May 3rd 2011 by Katherine Tegen Books
I loved Divergent.  It was my favorite YA distopian novels this year.  I am dying to read the next book in the series.

Title: Go the Fuck to Sleep
Author: Adam Mansbach
Published: June 14th 2011 by Akashic Books

This book is hilarious!  I recommend if you don't want to buy it or check it out from the library to look it up on youtube.com and listen to Samuel L. Jackson narrate it!

TitleParanormalcy
Author:Kiersten White
Published: August 31st 2010 by HarperTeen

Ok so I know this wasn't published in 2011 (the second book was) but the first time I read it was in 2011 so I am going to count it.  Now if only Ms. White would do a Q&A with my book club on goodreads!!

TitleHarry Potter Page to Screen: The Complete Film Making Journey
Author: Bob McCabe
Published: October 25th 2011 by Harper Design

I have not done a review on this book yet.  I checked this MASSIVE book out from the library and then bought it for my husband for Christmas so I wanted to wait for that before I did a review.  This book is WONDERFUL and perfect for any Harry Potter fan.  Especially the ones who are so sad there are no more movies.

TitleThe Night Circus
By: Erin Morgenstern
Published: September 13th 2011 by Doubleday

Ok this is another book I have not done a review on... because I have about 100 pages to go.  I should be reading it right now but I am writing this post instead!! It is so good and very descriptive.  Nothing like the vampire, werewolf novels that are so popular which makes it more of a refreshing book!

Title: The 39 Clues Series: Medusa's Plot
By: Gordon Korman

Published: August 30th 2011 by Scholastic Press

I don't see many of my fellow bloggers reading the 39 Clue series... but man they are good!  So good in fact that in a couple of weeks when I do my first giveaway I am going to give away book 1!

Title: Vixen

By: Jillian Larkin

Published: December 14th 2010 by Random House Children's Books

This series is great!  I think people aren't reading it though because it came out at the same time as the popular series Bright Young Things (which I have not read so I can't compare).  This is a fun series though and I recommend it if you are interested in reading a YA book that takes time during the Flapper era.

TitleThe Iron King

By: Julie Kagawa

Published: February 1st 2010 by Harlequin Teen

Ok I know this is another 2010 book, but again I didn't read it till 2011.  I also read the Iron Daughter in 2011 too.  Great series!

Title: Dead Reckoning

By: Charlaine Harris

Published: May 3rd 2011 by Ace

Love the Sookie series. Kinda sad there are only two more books!

Ok so those are my choices!  Leave me a link to yours!

Waiting on Wednesday (#11)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, where we have the chance to share what upcoming releases we are on the edge of our seats in anticipation for.

I am so excited for Endlessly by Kiersten White!  I love the cover for all the books especially this one!
The final chapter of Evie's adventures. Old friends, new ones, all wrapped up in impossible decisions. And some ball gowns. Because what's a life of normal and paranormal drama without a ball gown or two?

 What are you waiting on?

Waiting on Wednesday (#7)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, where we have the chance to share what upcoming releases we are on the edge of our seats in anticipation for.

Well I just finished reading Paranormalcy by Kiersten White and loved it.  So I am super excited about reading Supernaturally !  Here is the description on goodreads for the second book:

I love the cover too!  The release date for this book is July 26, 2011 so at least I don't have to wait too long for it.  I am hoping though to actually (PLEASE PLEASE) win an arc from Kiersten White's blog, but we'll see.  I haven't one an ARC before now.
