Twilight the Graphic Novel Volume 2- Review

Just finished the second volume in the series of Twilight Graphic Novels.  I have really enjoyed the art work in the series.  Beautiful!  Here is the goodreads description:

Having uncovered the dark secret of her enigmatic classmate, Edward Cullen, Bella Swan embraces her feelings for him, trusting Edward to keep her safe despite the risks. When a rival clan of vampires makes its way into Forks, though, the danger to Bella has never been more real. Will she make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the people dearest to her? The second volume of Twilight: The Graphic Novelcompletes the visual adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's worldwide bestselling debut novel and is a must-have for any collector's library.

This is a great graphic novel. I can't find any information if there is going to be a third graphic novel in the series but I am hoping there will be!  The story itself falls flat... it is like a hurried Twilight graphic novel.  This is why I only gave it two stars.  The book only takes about an hour to read so I would get it from the library unless you are a die-hard Twilight fan.  The pictures are wonderful... here is a few

Twilight: The Graphic Novel Volume 1-Review

Goodreads description:  When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret...

So I enjoyed this graphic novel.  I love to read this type of literature so when I found out Twilight was made into a graphic novel I wanted to check it out! It does not finish the first book, maybe about half the book.   So as far as I know Twilight the book will be two graphic novels so I am assuming all the books will be two graphic novels.  Though it seems that only one graphic novel will be published a year so that could mean 2017 they will be done with them?  WOW!  Hopefully the publisher starts publishing at least two a year.

The art work is beautiful so that is what I loved the most.  I tried to look up some information on the web about Young Kim, who is the illustrator for the graphic novel and could barely find anything!  I guess this is his first Manga.  Oh and by the way.... this book is Manga to me, not a graphic novel.   Ok so this brought up a debate for me in my mind... what is the difference between Manga and a Graphic Novel?  I find myself a graphic novel reader rather then a manga reader.  As I understand it, Manga is  is primarily used in English-speaking countries solely to describe comics of Japanese origin.   And a graphic novel is typically bound in longer and more durable formats than familiar comic magazine, using the same materials and methods as printed books, and they are generally sold in bookstores and specialty comic book shops rather than at newsstands (wikipedia definitions).  So to be honest I am totally confused because Young Kim's Twilight won for Manga of the year in 2010.  EEK!!!

Well hope that wasn't boring!  I would recommend this if you like graphic novels or if you like Twilight!

Mailbox Monday (#7)

Another Monday, Another Mailbox!! This is a feature where we all share with each other the yummy books that showed up at our doors! WARNING: In My Mailbox can lead to extreme envy and GINORMOUS wishlists!! In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren Mailbox Monday was originally hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page, but is now a traveling meme and for the month of April Mailbox Monday will be hosted by MariReads. Head on over to add your blog to the linky link and share your newest acquisitions with other book lovers.

This week I have some great old Dungeons and Dragons books that I borrowed from my uncle to scan through.  I do play the game (yes shocking) and so it was really fun to look at the old versions of the books.  I play 3.5 series and these books are the old 2.0 series.  I have been playing D&D for two years now and was so surprised how much I like it.  The art work in these older editions are so fun to look at! I looked it up and these books were published in 1989 even though to me most of the art work looks like it is from the 1970's.

Also this week I am going to start a new game I borrowed from a friend Dragon Age 1 and Twilight: The Graphic Novel Volume 1 from the library.   I am quite excited about both!

What is in your mailbox this week?  Leave a comment so I can check it out!

Teaser Tuesday (#6)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week's teaser is from Twilight the Graphic Novel: Volume 1 by Stephanie Meyer .  I don't actually have any sentences I wanted to share because they are a little different then a normal book.  So I took a picture of two different pages in the graphic novel.... ENJOY!!  I chose the pictures below because all the images in the book are black and white except for just a couple of them.  Two of them are below.  One is when Bella cuts herself, and the other is when Edward turns to sparkles in the sun!
