R.I.P. VII Sign Up!!

Wow!!  I am so glad I stumbled upon this spooky reading challenge!!  There are several challenges to chose from:  Read four, two or one book.  Read short stories, watch scary tv shows or movies, AND there is even a group read!!  You guys should check out this challenge!  Here is the sign up page!

The purpose of R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril VII is to enjoy books and movies/television that could be classified (by you) as:
Mystery.
Suspense.
Thriller.
Dark Fantasy.
Gothic.
Horror.
Supernatural.
Or anything sufficiently moody that shares a kinship with the above.

There are two simple goals for R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril VII
1. Have fun reading.
2. Share that fun with others.

As I do each and every year, there are multiple levels of participation (Perils) that allow you to be a part of R.I.P. VII without adding the burden of another commitment to your already busy lives. There is even a one book only option for those who feel that this sort of reading is not their cup of tea (or who have many other commitments) but want to participate all the same.
R.I.P. VII officially runs from September 1st through October 31st. But lets go ahead and break the rules
Oh wow! ! Not sure what I want to participate in???? I think for sure I will participate in watching something spooky. I have been wanting to check out some Dark Shadows episodes. So I am in for that!!

And then I also want to read a scary book... but I want it to be a classic!!  And a long book... how about Misery by Stephen King!!  One book is Peril the Third!

Will you be joining this challenge?

YOU ask the questions to Courtney Summers!!

Hey fans of Courtney Summers!!!  Only a few more days for YOUR questions and comments !  She will be stopping by my Young Adult Book club on September 15th so hurry!! Courtney Summers will be answering your questions HERE!  Please stop by and welcome here!!

Follow Me Friday (#45)

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. We also gain new followers by joining each other's sites via GFC, so please let me know if you're a new follower. And now for this week's question....
Q. What book are you reading right now and what do you think of it?
A.  Well after a MONTH of struggling to get though it (yes I said a month, though I may be exaggerating a little) I just finished The Map of Time by Felix J Palma  , I wrote the review right before this post so if you want to see what I think of it... well scroll down some. :)  I am about to start the Graphic Novel series Locke and Key by Joe Hill .  For those of you who don't know, Joe Hill is Stephen King's son.  And I love the King so I am excited to read Joe's work.  I am prepared to be scared!!

What are you reading?

The Map of Time by Félix J. Palma -Review

Wow... this book took me forever to finish!!!  Here is the goodreads description:
Set in Victorian London with characters real and imagined, The Map of Time boasts a triple play of intertwined plots in which a skeptical H.G. Wells is called upon to investigate purported incidents of time travel and to save lives and literary classics, including Dracula and The Time Machine, from being wiped from existence. What happens if we change history? The author explores this question in the novel, weaving an historical fantasy as imaginative as it is exciting—a story full of love and adventure that transports readers to a haunting setting in Victorian London for their own taste of time travel.

I swear it took me a month to get through this book. It is very wordy. I think the ideas were good. Turns out there are three different stories in one book.  For some reason I thought this was a Young Adult book but once I got to reading it I discovered it is not.  My sister swore up and down this was the best book ever... so I made myself read it.  Honestly I guess it was just really long and winded.  I did keep getting tricked in each story I will admit... (spoilers to come!!) I kept thinking we were really time traveling only to find out we weren't.  And the last story with Wells really confused me.  If he was just sitting in his chair imaging the third part of the book then how did he know about World War I, and World War II.  Unless I just misunderstood that part?

I am surprised to find out that this book is a series! (Ok I really shouldn't be surprised since it seems that EVERY book is a series anymore). But I can't imagine where this book will go next???  I found out the name of the next book is The Map of the Sky  which makes me want to read it also!!  I know it will be just as wordy and just as long but the story behind it is pretty good.  And I have to say the covers are amazing!!  In fact... I see that this book came out a few days ago!  Sept 4th!

Sunday Showcase!!!

Hello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. You can find Showcase Sunday here!

Well this week I received a book I won from Tishia at Paranormal Opinion !!!  I can't even believe I won it AND received it.  I have won two other contests in the past 6 months and never actually received the book.  So here is the Clockwork Angel I won (which I have been dying to read for sometime now):

Since it is the beginning of September I have started the new book discussions in both my book clubs on goodreads.  The YA Book Club is going to be reading Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers AND she is going to be stopping by for a Q&A on the 15th so please stop by  and welcome here and ask her any question you want.  And in my Stephen King Fans  group we are going to be reading Desperation this month!!  Both should be great discussions so if you are looking for someone to read with come on by and join in.

OK so I think that is all that happened this week!!!
